Acommendation at College

There are eleven hostels for residence for male students and three for female students. Each student will be admitted to any of these hostels. Accommodation in the hostel is for one year and the student can be allocated to another. The hostels are clean, precious, and surrounded by a green environment.

1. Hostels for Male Students (John, Orion, Constant, Pheonix, Florida, Joralan, Cassablanca, Mercury A, Mercury B, Mars Venus)
2. Hostels for Female Students (Neptune, Jerusalem, Jupiter)

Freashe's Week

First Year students (Freshers) are by tradition given an “acclimatization” period of normally one week which is referred to as the “Orientation Week”. In the first week, the Fresher’s are introduced to the key facilities in the College as well as other important aspects of life at the College. The management finally addresses all students on the final day led by the Principal.

Counciling and Guidance

Management of Uganda Technical College Elgon believes that due to effects/ challenges of Covid 19, most students have been faced with trauma, fear, anxiety, stress, pregnancies, marriages, loss of hope and challenged with fees payment: it’s against this back-ground the counselling department has been revamped to meet the challenge.

Responsible Office

The office of the Dean of students is fully responsible for Guidance and counselling of students. The staff under the Dean’s office have been empowered with Knowledge and the skills to offer this service. Detailed information is on the Guidance & Counseling page under Services on the menu.

Medical Access

Uganda Technical College Elgon has a Medical Center with qualified medical Personnel with fully finished premises with Ward, Treatment room and Consultation room housed within the same premises. We provide medical treatment to mild and moderate cases with severe cases referred to Mbale Region Referral Hospital (MRRH). The medical center is located behind Ebenezer building and opposite John Hostel

Services Provided

1. Out Patient Services (Treatment of mild cases, Consultation and referral of complicated cases)
2. Bed side laboratory test (Malaria rapid diagnostic test, Blood sugar test, Pregnancy tests)
3. Medical outreaches (Blood Donation, Safe male circumcision, Health education talks)

Recreation

There are number of games and sports activities at the College. The Games and sports section headed by the Games and Sports Tutor offers welfare and sports services to the students through Inter-Hostel Sports Competitions scheduled to take place during the first Semester of each academic year. The games include:

1. Football
2. Netball
3. Valley ball

 

Places of Worship

There are two places of worship at the college;

1. The college Church is located behind the main get for Sunday Service
2. The college Mosque located opposite Mount Elgon Labor based Training Center (MELTC) for prayers
